Hello everyone! I hope your day is going amazingly well! In today’s post, I want to talk about how I save for a trip, and some things/tips you should know before booking a trip.
Okay so before I book a trip, I pick a destination, after I pick a destination, I decide what resort or hotel I would like to stay at. From there I pick how much I would like to spend. It’s always good to know your budget.
Once you have all that decided check those reviews! I will spend hours researching a resort/ hotel and watching Youtube videos, looking at pictures, I do all of that. Where I stay for a few days is very important (I’m very bougie when it comes to this) LOL, but you don’t want to pick somewhere, not check out where you will be staying and be in for a big surprise when you get there.
Always book in off season. Resorts tend to be cheaper then.
Choose an all inclusive resort. This is so helpful especially when you’re on a budget. All inclusive is when food, drinks and snacks are included. Those kind of resorts are my favorite to stay at. Let me give you an example. So my mom and I went to Jamaica in 2012, and we stayed at Secrets St. James in Montego Bay. We went to a restaurant and ate a little but my mom couldn’t enjoy like she wanted to. When then left and went to another place and sat down and ate at no extra charge. You don’t have to do this but it’s good to know and have options.
One thing that really works for me is booking months ahead of time. I usually put down a deposit to hold my spot, and make payments. This allows me time so I don’t have to make a full payment at once. We all ain’t got it like that!
Okay so let’s get into some ways to save for a trip.
Try not to eat out. What you spend in a month of eating out you can put towards your trip.
Only buy what you need, if you don’t really new a new pair of shoes or dress, then don’t buy it. When you go shopping, try to use coupons as much as you can.
Meal prep. Some people don’t like eating leftover after 2 or 3 days, but let me tell you have easy it is to just come home and warm up the food you already have made. You can scratch the cooking and trying to find something to eat.
Have a seperate saving account for your trips. I have a vacation savings account, so I put money for my trips in there. This account I can only take from if I physically go to the bank. Sometimes I don’t want to or feel like going to the bank so I know I won’t touch it.
I hope you found this helpful. Are you booking a trip soon? Where do you plan on going? Wherever you choose to go have fun!
