Jamaica Vacation Day 2
This day was Anthony’s birthday so we did whatever he wanted to do. We started off with breakfast at the world cafe. I got ackee and saltfish. My favorite Jamaican dish. It’s so yummy. I also got fruit as well.
After breakfast, we hit the gym, then played pool. I really like that there is so much to do on the resort. It’s perfect if you don’t want to venture out and would just like to chill and hang out at the resort during your stay. Everyday there is a different activity.
After we played pool we showered and headed to one of my favorite spots which is the beach! Listening to the waves while you read a book is so relaxing.
So after we spent time at the beach, we got hungry, so we headed over to grab lunch. They have a pasta station at the World Cafe which was our go to for lunch. I got a white sauce pasta with veggies and a Bob Marley to wash it down.
After lunch we headed back to the beach for a little while then off to the jacuzzi before going back to the room to get ready for dinner.
For dinner the boo wanted to try out the rooftop bar over at Breathless. It’s called Altitude. To get there we had to walk over by the St. James preferred side and go across the walkway to get there. Breathless is an updated more modern style resort. There we were greeted by Rick James, he is kinda like the hype man. He does a great job. The food at Altitude was just okay, but the drinks at the bar and the entertainment was so much fun! Anthony enjoyed his birthday for sure!
Tip#1 : Tipping is not required but it is very much appreciate. Everyone that works here does a great job and they work hard.
Tip #2 The earlier you ge to a restaurant the better. We didn’t really have a wait but things move a lot faster.
My Amazing Birthday In Jamaica!
You know I was thinking back to my wonderful birthday stay at Secrets in Montego for my birthday. If you are not familiar with this resort it’s located in Montego Bay, Jamaica and it’s called Secrets St. James.
I originally booked an oceanfront room on the Wild Orchid side for a real sweet deal. The wonderful lady who I was speaking with named Claudette about room preferences was able to upgrade us to a Master suite! Best birthday gift ever! The room was so amazing! It had a Jacuzzi on the balcony and the balcony was huge! Also the master suites and presidential suites comes with butlers. So they give you a phone that you can use to call them and they will bring you whatever you need.
The room also had a huge jet tub, a separate living room area and nice sized bed. Unlike the other suites in the resort, the bathroom has two wooden sliding doors for more privacy.
For my birthday my fiance gifted me a nice massage and when I got back to the room I came back to a nice surprise!
I felt so special! Dinner that night was great! They even gave me a special little cake after dinner.
Check out the amazing view we had from the room!
Since I was turning 30, I wanted to make this birthday very special. There are so many people that I knew and grew up with that will never see 30. Whatever you decide to do for your birthday make it special, because you are blessed to see another year.
I will leave you with some of my favorite pics from this trip. Enjoy!
Tips To Know Before You Book A Trip
Hello everyone! I hope your day is going amazingly well! In today’s post, I want to talk about how I save for a trip, and some things/tips you should know before booking a trip.
Okay so before I book a trip, I pick a destination, after I pick a destination, I decide what resort or hotel I would like to stay at. From there I pick how much I would like to spend. It’s always good to know your budget.
Once you have all that decided check those reviews! I will spend hours researching a resort/ hotel and watching Youtube videos, looking at pictures, I do all of that. Where I stay for a few days is very important (I’m very bougie when it comes to this) LOL, but you don’t want to pick somewhere, not check out where you will be staying and be in for a big surprise when you get there.
Always book in off season. Resorts tend to be cheaper then.
Choose an all inclusive resort. This is so helpful especially when you’re on a budget. All inclusive is when food, drinks and snacks are included. Those kind of resorts are my favorite to stay at. Let me give you an example. So my mom and I went to Jamaica in 2012, and we stayed at Secrets St. James in Montego Bay. We went to a restaurant and ate a little but my mom couldn’t enjoy like she wanted to. When then left and went to another place and sat down and ate at no extra charge. You don’t have to do this but it’s good to know and have options.
One thing that really works for me is booking months ahead of time. I usually put down a deposit to hold my spot, and make payments. This allows me time so I don’t have to make a full payment at once. We all ain’t got it like that!
Okay so let’s get into some ways to save for a trip.
Try not to eat out. What you spend in a month of eating out you can put towards your trip.
Only buy what you need, if you don’t really new a new pair of shoes or dress, then don’t buy it. When you go shopping, try to use coupons as much as you can.
Meal prep. Some people don’t like eating leftover after 2 or 3 days, but let me tell you have easy it is to just come home and warm up the food you already have made. You can scratch the cooking and trying to find something to eat.
Have a seperate saving account for your trips. I have a vacation savings account, so I put money for my trips in there. This account I can only take from if I physically go to the bank. Sometimes I don’t want to or feel like going to the bank so I know I won’t touch it.
I hope you found this helpful. Are you booking a trip soon? Where do you plan on going? Wherever you choose to go have fun!

Secrets St. James Master Suite Review (Pics included)
I had an amazing trip!! It was just perfect! My birthday was amazing and this by far was the best trip there out of all the times I have been there!
Check in:
Okay I will start off with check in. We arrived at the airport around 10:30. We got to the resort about 11. We stayed in the Master Suite at the St. James preferred side. Check in took a while. No worries we went to lunch and came back. The room still wasn’t ready. We were informed that we got there a bit early so we sat in the preferred lounge. Davion our butler,( yes butler! ) introduced himself to us and took us up to our room. WOW!
The Suite:
The master suite is just amazing! It comes with a living room, bedroom, and separate bath area. The rooms have sliding wooden doors, which are perfect if you don’t want to disturb whoever you are on vacation with. It’s so much more private than the regular suites. We had a really nice view. The balcony has a nice size to it with a Jacuzzi and lounge area. (pics to follow) The sunsets were a little blocked by the palm trees but that’s okay. If you want a clearer view stay in the suite on the 4th floor. We were on the 3rd floor in room 4319. We were there to celebrate our birthdays. The rooms all have steamers now, they no longer have irons. I miss the irons and kinda wish they would bring them back. The shower was sooooo spacious! It was like two of the regular showers put together maybe a little bigger. The closet was in the bathroom right across from the tub. The tub was so nice. The master suite and butler service was just great! I almost felt like a celebrity! lol It was just beautiful! Caulette! Love you! Still need to meet you!!
The Spa:
On my birthday my fiance treated me to a spa day, so I got a wonderful massage, manicure, and pedicure. They are working on the spa so they are doing massages in rooms. I got my massage in a suite on the 3rd floor. Some people were complaining about this but I enjoyed it. It was just as relaxing. I could hear the hammering from the construction across the street because they are building another resort. It wasn’t very loud in fact I was able to sleep during my massage. Kay did a wonderful job. She did my massage, manicure and pedicure. I think all the services are available in the spa except the hydrotherapy. I enjoyed my services.
Butler Service: The Master Suites and the Presidential suites come with a butler. Our butlers were Davion and Travis. Davion was super nice and polite. Travis helped set up the decorations in our suite for my birthday! So when I got back from my spa day I came back to beautiful decorations and a nice bath. It made my birthday so special! Ugh I wish I could rewind! Anyways! Shout out to Travis and Davion for being amazing butlers! I hope to see you guys again!
Okay so let’s move on to the restaurants. One of our favorites restaurants to eat at is the World Cafe. One thing that was missing this time was the Reggae music. We were there for 7 days and we didn’t hear it there at all. Not even at night at the Blue Mountain. I don’t know what they were playing but it didn’t feel right. We really missed the music. What happened? Leroy always does an amazing job at taking care of us and making sure I get my ackee and saltfish on the final day. He is great!!
The Preferred Beach: The beach area is nice. The St. James side is closer to the construction but we didn’t mind it. We had some nice days at the beach when the weather was nice. The pool is nice as well. Shout out to Kerry-Ann she made sure I had a nice rum punch to keep me cool.
The entertainment is always great! I love the house band Pace! They even took a few requests from me for songs to sing! This trip was so great I had so much fun and really really enjoyed myself. I also participated in the Talk Jamaican
class taught by Sunshine. That class also included a Jerk class as well. I do recommend that. Also the ATM was only giving Jamaican dollars while we there. We had to go to the resort next door to get USD. We found that to be very odd. We were told the ATM was out of order. The grounds are always kept nice and clean as there is always someone out working hard. Everyone here works so hard! If I could make all their troubles go away and give them lots of money I would. Anyway that’s it for my review If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. I will be happy to answer.
